Sales Engineer

Territory: Novi, MI and Surrounding Area

​

Sales Engineers are self-motivated individuals with a solution focused mentality. As a distributor for over 100+ top manufacturing companies along with in house assembly and custom engineering, your job is to help our customers find cost effective solutions. Assisting customers in the application of products and services to meet their needs resulting in revenue generation.  Providing solutions to client’s operational needs will be integral in achieving critical objectives of maintaining and capturing new business. You must have a sales mentality, and most importantly, think like a business owner. J.H. Bennett is 100% employee owned so you are an owner!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and autonomously manage your sales activities within a specified territory

  • Maintain working relationships with existing clients, gain trust, and confidence to ensure exceptional service in applying our products while identifying potential new sales opportunities.

  • Represent our company with consumer research based upon customer’s needs and interests

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the technical products we represent and services we offer. You must be able to relay this knowledge in a way that is understandable to non-technical customers.

  • Attend training and sales meetings as required to stay current with all company products

  • Prepare and develop technical presentations to explain the products and services we provide to our customers.

  • Prepare quotations and proposals, follow up, negotiate terms, and other bid specifications to clients

  • Complete reports regarding itineraries, expenses, sales calls, leads, and other related matters

  • Meet revenue and margin goals as established by Sales Director

  • Collaborate with all appropriate departments equipment needs and system requirements to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Develop and implement territory action plan through comprehensive data analysis and adjust sale techniques based on interactions and results in the field.

  • Answer inquiries from clients concerning products, their uses, and the industry at large

  • Ability to effectively maintain and work a customer pipeline

  • Organizational skills and a keen eye for detail

  • Computer proficiency and the ability to accurately enter data and generate reports

  • Negotiation and social problem-solving skills

  • Competitive, entrepreneurial spirit and driven to sales goals

 

Ideal candidate also has:

  • Proven success in business-to-business (B2B) sales

  • Strong problem-solving skills. Identify customers issue and then recommend fixes, improvements, or upgrades to materials and/or machinery.

 

Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Two- or three-year Technical Diploma or Degree or equivalent job-related training and experience

  • Eligible to work in the United States

  • Follow written and verbal instruction

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team

 

This is a full-time salaried position. There is flexibility in the hours however evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Majority of the time is spent “in the field” visiting current and potential customers.
